Time to trade some assets!

Lets face it...  Contrary to what Tom Renney thinks the Oilers are not going to make the playoffs this year.  I think its time to part ways with a couple of the better performers to better position the team to keep the build going.

First one:
Dustin Penner

Coming off a great year, posting some decent (not great) numbers this year and has a somewhat manageable contract.  Time to finally ship him out for a pick or prospect.

Second( and i hate to say it)
Ales Hemsky

As much as I would hate to see him go, now is the time to trade him to maximize the return value.  He is playing well and is relatively healthy and has an great cap hit for a player of his caliber. With one full year left on the contract any team would instantly make themselves a better team by trading for him.

Commodore 64??

Mike Commodore has requested a trade from Columbus.

Should the Oil be looking to pick up this veteran blueliner?

I think Tambs should defiantly take a shot at trading for him. He is a veteran stay at home defenceman that makes hits, blocks shots and makes smart plays in his own zone.

Will he go to Edmonton? Why not? He has his cup ring. he is from Edmonton and what better way to wind down a career than to play in your home town and mentor the young guns waiting in the wings.

Summer time news

So far this summer has been one heck of an interesting one.. First thing to say is Congrats to the Stanley Cup Champs! Was great to see Hossa on the outside looking in.. Goes to show that Detroit is not a sure thing ALL the time...

Great pick up on Free agent frenzy day.. The Bulin wall is going to E-town and will be solid between the pipes.

Now for the most insulting series of events...

Dany "dick" Heatley

This guy demands a trade... One is worked out that works for both teams.. someone leaks the Oiler players names (Penner, Smid and Cogliano) and then he says "nahhhh I am not ready to make any decisions yet"

What a JERK...

Oh well looks like Tambalini will have to try to put something else together and soon.. Because this team looks pretty well the same as last year except there are 3 players that know that they are expendable and possibly on their way out and they did'nt make the playoffs then either...

Its Over...

The season is over.. What can i say? They made a great attempt and next year looks VERY bright.. Gagner, Cogliano, Nilson, Gilbert are all future stars and thrilling to watch.. Its just too bad that the injuries that allowed these guys to play and develop might have also caused the team to miss this years playoffs. Losing Horc, Chopper, , Torres and Sourey for most of the season were terrible circumstances .. Here's to a healthy 08/09 season and a playoff spot!

Off Topic Rant.

So my Xbox 360 just dies for the 4th time within 2 years. I am now waiting to get the "coffin" to send in to get it replaced by yet another refurbished piece if crap. Microsoft has an obligation to its customers. They have made a step in the right direction with extending the hardware failure(3 red lights) warranty to 3 years but they just keep fixing the same problematic systems and ship them back out to us unfortunate consumers to continue the cycle of disappointment. My thoughts are that if you have had the same issue more than 3 times Microsoft should replace your machine with a new ( better engineered falcon based) box but they disagree. They would rather continue fixing the broken machines and hope they last to a point beyond the 3ry warranty extention so they can start to charge for sub standard repairs. Shame on you Microsoft...
